Jarvis the Airplane

Going for a test flight in the sun!

What I Wore

One magnificent new dress :)

Made just for me by Dear Prudence, after I fell wildly in love with the version she made in a normal human being size...

And a silly smile!

The perfect outfit to wear on a family picnic :)

A Rainy Day at Our Place

I love these crazy monkeys!

I Dream of Suitcases

I am a compulsive vintage suitcase buyer. I adore them. When I travel, even internationally, I keep the luggage handlers amused with my unusual choice of baggage (my most common companion is a fabulous cream coloured Skyway case from goodness knows when). I was engaged in a ten minute conversation about my fabulous suitcase in Brisbane airport a couple of years ago!  And it's so easy to find on a baggage carousel ;)

So, whilst flicking through Frankie magazine on the ipad yesterday (may I add digital magazines are awesome. We have no more room in our house for magazines, they're obscenely expensive, and for the princely sum of $7.46NZD I have it instantly appear on my ipad. Choice. ), I read about Trunk & Orderly, an Australian company who make gorgeous fibreboard suitcases, storage boxes, and furniture, after buying up a retiring suitcase factory in its entirety!

I am now dreaming about suitcases. Oh yes I am. I'm quite sure these guys read my mind & created a product just for me ;) Now to save up some serious pennies, and perhaps by next Christmas I might just be able to get one. It seems they don't currently ship to New Zealand, but with many gorgeous friends on the other side of the Tasman, I don't think that'll be a barrier!

Tea?

If only I could sit drinking my tea from this. Gorgeous.

I want to shop here!

(unsolicited deliveries of teapots & related paraphernalia gratefully accepted! lol)

Things I'll sew...one day!

I love Colette Patterns. So pretty, not too tricky to sew, fabulous instructions, and they come packaged up
just beautifully.

Now to find some time, or a clone, to enable me to actually sew something. I have a stash of gorgeous fabric I got for my birthday (not the most recent one, the one before that...sigh...), I have the patterns, now I must actually get myself organised & produce something to wear!

Happy Birthday, Olive!

Olive, the Sneaky Fox, had a birthday on Sunday. Her first ever! (excluding the whole actually being born birth-day, of course).

A fabulous time was had by all. Happy Birthday, lovely lady!

A Year!

What a year.

We shifted, from our home in the North Island, to the South Island...a land where we had no friends or family. Thank goodness for Blog Land, which led me to a couple of lovely lovely friends, who made life so much happier for me.

Olive was born three and a half weeks after we arrived. Only the truly crazy shift islands heavily pregnant!

Jarvis started preschool, after three years of hanging with me. And loves every moment...

We bought our first home! And, obviously, shifted house yet again to move into it!

And I've been the most slack blogger in all of existence! However, I have plans to change my uselessness...I need to do something that's just for me.

Keep your eyes peeled. More blogging will come. Yes it will.

Hmmmm?

It's always an adventure going to tuck Jarvis in...who knows what you'll find? A teddy in a fox mask, a typewriter at the ready, one can only wonder what kind of story he was dreaming of writing!

Pink Potatoes.

And ode to BLW and Pink Potatoes (an emergency concoction of beetroot & potato).

Here are the pink potatoes, before being dumped onto the high chair & flung far & wide in a joyous expression of food love ;)

Pink potatoes...

Pink potatoes on the spoon,
 Pink potatoes round the room!
 Pink potatoes on your nose,
 Pink potatoes on your toes!
 Pink potatoes in your eye
 Pink potatoes in the sky!
 Pink potatoes in your ear
 Pink potatoes in Daddy’s beer!
 Pink potatoes on your face
 Pink potatoes out in space!
 Pink potatoes in your hair
Pink potatoes flying through the air!
 Pink potatoes on your tummy
 Pink potatoes all over mummy!
 Pink potatoes here and there,
 Pink potatoes EVERYWHERE!

A Bedroom for Olive.

I found a treasure at the recycling centre the other day - one beautiful wooden wire wove bed, which had obviously just been delivered. With a few modifications, we have one fabulous bed for one small girl. Not that she will be sleeping in there at night for a while yet, but right now she's tucked up having a leisurely morning nap!

So, with the legs chopped off to make it nice & low, and the wire wove destined to be removed & replaced with slats this weekend, we have one perfect bed for the princely sum of fifteen bucks. Ka pai!

Jarvis thinks her room is pretty sweet too :)

Tooth!

Just the one! Nine and a half months in the making :)

Racetrack at the Beach.

What does one do at the beach on a murky day?

Draw pictures with a stick...

And build a racetrack, of course!

Totally engrossed in his car race, cheering on the winner.

And what a beautiful place to be doing it!

Space Bats?

'I don't like bats, Mummy. They're scary and come from Outer Space.'

Olive the Mushroom!

She's crawling. Properly crawling!

For Jannelle...

Morning time...sleepy eyes, sleepy curls.

She's pulling to stand. On everything. Including people.

And a very coy smile.

And such big blue eyes.

Where did my baby girl go?

I swear this was only yesterday...but it seems it was almost eight months ago.

Jarvis the Cellarhand

On Saturday morning, Jarvis set off on an adventure with his Daddy. They had some secret Mother's Day operations to undertake, and had to go and check out the ferments at the winery.

Jarvis is quite handy with the hose - I imagine by next vintage he'll be quite a fabulous assistant to have around! Either that or he will have joined the volunteer fire brigade (the vineyard manager is the king of the local volunteer firemen, and he's always looking for new recruits)!

Fuzzy, but Fabulous!

I especially love this pose! Ready for action!

New House - Lounge!

And a lounge! Not totally buried under stuff. (only a little stuff I didn't manage to conceal!). Comfy boy on chair, baby attempting to crawl on floor, cat happily chilling on couch. Nice.

Fabulous ancient radio, used as telly table. I couldn't get a decent photo, but on the front with the frequencies are all the towns in NZ - where to turn the dial to if you live in any particular place. Wicked cool.

In love with the lounge suite. Our quest was a long & involved one - a new lounge suite from a regular shop just isn't our style, a super flash lounge suite from a fantastic furniture designer just isn't our budget! After trawling trade me for AGES, we found this gem. Made by Morgan Furniture (a brand I became just a little enamoured with whilst couch hunting), it's awesome. Spent many a year in the 'formal lounge' of someone's Nana, she never actually let anyone sit on it so it's still in fab condition. And it folds flat to a bed. Yeah!

I Love Lamp (and I've seen Anchorman a few too many times...lol).

And a cute, albeit a little blurry, Jarvis.

Lounge!

Lunch

Oh Miss Olive, how fast you've grown!

Three weeks ago I had a 100% breastfed baby. An enormous one, but we made it to six months without having to do anything else to feed this gorgeous little person.

Now look what we have!

The bib had to come out once an avo entered the picture.

Mmmm!!!
